“Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race.” H. G. Wells, author and the ‘father of science fiction’.

Why ride a bike?

Giving cycling a go can be a fun way to feel better, build up some fitness, and to meet new people  - or to have some space to yourself!

Having a go at cycling doesn’t need to be a big investment, and you might find that this is a great way to do some shopping, or to get to work - with no petrol bills and no congestion!  If you have health issues which you think could be a concern, check with your doctor first.

Maybe the biggest thing about trying cycling is to just relax and give it a go. Don’t be pushed into doing too much too soon by well meaning friends, or expect yourself to be a hyper-fit expert overnight. If you haven’t ridden before (or for a while) it’s a good idea to allow your body some adjustment time - parts of you will need to get used to this new thing. (For most people that will include their rear end!)
