Ride On is a joint cycle initiative between Tasman District Council, Nelson City Council, Nelson Marlborough District Health Board comprising three main programmes:

Cycle safety training to young people aged 8 to 12

  • Based on NZTA/Bike NZ Level 2
  • On road training with qualified cycle instructors
  • Small ratio groups targeting safe urban riding skills
  • Identifying preferred riding routes to and from school

Adult learn to ride courses

  • Targeting those riders either new to or returning to cycling
  • Basic maintenance and care of the bike
  • Balance, braking and basic road safety
  • Intersections and riding in traffic

Cycle skills trailer

  • Modular timber cycle skills course to challenge any age group
  • A unique riding experience to teach balance, vision and braking
  • Perfect addition for community events and school based learning
